About Schreiber:
 
Schreiber Furniture emerged in the mid-sixties under the innovative vision of Chaim Schreiber, who employed a unique approach he termed 'furniture engineering' to craft affordable bedroom furniture. Though slightly behind the fashion curve in the late '60s, the business soared, enabling Schreiber to acquire Greaves and Thomas in 1967, enhancing the company's prestige. 
 
With a directive yet egalitarian management style, Chaim Schreiber prioritized fairness, abolishing clocking in and equalizing pay. Renowned for manufacturing skills, Schreiber dominated the market by the early '70s, outpacing competitors like Gomme. 
 
While Gomme excelled in design, Schreiber mastered affordability, offering teak-finished dining and bedroom furniture. The '70s saw Schreiber diversify into kitchens and introduce new ranges, even establishing the 'Schreiber Furniture Centre.' Facing economic challenges in the mid-'70s, a merger with GEC saved the company. Adapting to changing trends, Schreiber embraced flat-pack furniture in the late '70s and remained a household name, outlasting industry turbulence to become a recognized brand in the home improvement sector, now available at Argos.
